VS 2012 Whats the best way to create a database to log numbers and reports?

I am creating an application to keep track of numbers in our department. Each employee (20 of them) has daily numbers that they write down and fill out at the end of the day and turn into the supervisor. There are probably about 12 different fields required: Boxes shipped out, CDs created, DVDs created, ect.

The end result would be that the supervisor can open a form and insert a date to pull up the logs for that day. If he enters a range of dates (08/05/2103 to 09/05/13) it should total the logs for that range of dates.

There will also need to be filtering options such as singling out an employee and being able to view either a single or range of dates for just that employees numbers.

The application I am adding this feature to is installed on about a dozen machines and each employee has their own login to the computers. I would need to create a database on the network or in a specific folder so that all of the information is stored in one area.

I would like to stay away from mysql if that is possible. Due hosting being wacky with all the internal routing within the company. Some sort of file based database would be perfect I'd think.

How would you guys go about doing this? How would you begin mapping this out? What sort of trouble can I expect while building this?

Thanks so much. Everyone here is so helpful
